The Senior Citizen’s Center is located at 580 Ernest Biles Drive, and is a division of the Butts County Department of Leisure Services.  The center and its staff provide congregate and home delivered meals to seniors citizens of Butts County TRAAA JANUARY-MARCH 2017 MENU. Other services provided include transportation, educational, fitness and recreational activities. The center includes a commercial kitchen used to prepare the senior meals as well as office space for United Way.  For more information, please call 770-775-8238.

STATEMENT OF MISSION AND OBJECTIVES

The Butts County Board of Commissioners, through its Department of Leisure Services, is committed to providing services for Butts County citizens, ages 50 and older, which will promote, enhance and support senior adults and help them remain independent and feeling safe, healthy and happy in their homes. The Division will focus on meeting basic needs of at risk senior adults through nutritional, educational, recreational and transportation services. The Division will seek every means to collaborate with other service organizations in the effort to maximize services and community, local, state and federal resources.

Goals & Objectives within each service area are:

Senior Citizens Center: provide a facility where persons aged 50 or older meet to pursue mutual interest, receive services, and take part in activities that will enhance their dignity and quality of life, support independence and encourage their involvement in the community.

Nutritional Services: based on a hierarchy of need, provide nutritious congregate and home delivered meals to at risk senior adults.

Educational Services: coordinate monthly programs that will educate senior adults on matters of nutrition, health, wellness, safety and resources that can assist them in remaining independent and feeling safe, healthy and happy in their homes.

Recreational Services: provide and/or facilitate daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly activities that teach new skills or keep participants engaged mentally and/or physically in wholesome activities.

Transportation Assistance: through Butts Transit, a regional transportation service, transportation is available to all Butts County citizens (especially senior adults), for the purposes of education, shopping, medical, and recreational or employment purposes.
